ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5, episode 9 (winter finale) preview: Surprises for Kerry Washington, Bellamy Young, cast

Are you ready for some crazy developments on “Scandal“? If so, next week’s new episode may be right up your alley. Given that we are staring in the face of yet another national crisis, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” is probably something that we’ll need to listen to in order to cheer up after watching this episode of the same name.

The synopsis below may not give away a whole lot in terms of what is coming, but it lays the groundwork that Kerry Washington and Bellamy Young are both going to have a lot of great material to work with:

“Olivia is feeling more and more frustrated as she takes on “First Lady” type responsibilities at the White House. Meanwhile, Mellie proves just how powerful she can be and Jake and Huck continue the hunt for Rowan.”

ABC has not officially confirmed the return date yet for the series, but either late January / early February seem like safe bets. They probably want the shows to last into sweeps, and then at that point they may consider taking one more hiatus before coming back in April / May to finish things up. The promo below does not really do a great job of teasing anything that is coming up, other than the typical ABC “something crazy is going to happen” that they revel in with this show. Oh, how we wish they would focus on the characters more at times than they did the twists. The one thing we are really looking forward to is seeing how Olivia is going to adjust to living in the White House with Fitz, now that they are together.
