‘The X Factor’ UK castoff Seann Miley Moore defends mentor Nick Grimshaw

Nick -

It is fair to say that after this past episode of “The X Factor,” fans were upset. Specifically, they were upset at Radio One host / judge Nick Grimshaw, who opted to allow the decision between Seann Miley Moore and Mason Noise to go the British public.

If the public should be upset at anyone, it really should be themselves since they were the ones who didn’t vote for Seann. Yet, they have called Grimshaw a “coward” and other terrible things for not choosing between two of his own acts … even if this is usually what most judges tend to do in this situation. We’ve seen them sometimes abstain from voting, just as we’ve also seen them send it to deadlock.

Ironically, one of the people not upset at Nick over the decision is Seann himself. Speaking to “Good Morning Britain” in a new interview this morning, he defended the coach by saying that he couldn’t be the one to send someone home:

“How can he choose between his children?… That’s how the game is, he couldn’t do that as us boys, we were the bad boys, we were a group, a unit … Nick has been hands on with all of us. He is fabulous, wonderful to work with, so he couldn’t. It’s like Sophie’s Choice, he can’t make that decision.”

If we were to look at this decision from the standpoint of numbers, we would say that keeping Mason probably means that he will be down to just one singer on his team sooner rather than later. As fantastic as Mason could be in future performances, people just don’t like him. That makes him a hard to person to get behind as a contender. Maybe we would have seen Seann make it a few more weeks had he stayed, with his placement in the bottom being a galvanizing force in his favor. However, he probably wasn’t going to get to the final anyway; not everyone is going to get behind his style.

Ultimately, Nick really needs to get behind Che Chesterman above all else if he wants to make it far … or go back in a time machine and get Josh Daniel on his team.
