‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: What Max Stone, Lauren Murray, Mason Noise will sing

X Factor

The theme on this weekend’s new episode of “The X Factor” is “Reinvention,” and based on what we have heard about to date, there is one primary purpose for this episode: Giving people a chance to put their own spin on songs. We thought at first that this was just going to mean people singing oldies, but now that we realize that this is not even remotely the case, we’re excited for what is coming up! We’ve got people choosing interesting, current tunes, and ones that will give them unique opportunities to shine.

Let’s go ahead and get to the choices.

4th Impact, “Sound of the Underground” / “Boom Clap” – Hey look, someone from Cheryl’s team is doing a Girls Aloud song! This makes some sense, and we’re interested to see how this works.

Reggie ‘n Bollie, “What Makes You Beautiful” / “Cheerleader” – In theory we can already hear how this is going to work in our head.

Max Stone, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” / “What a Wonderful World” – Great choices by Max. While these songs are old, they have a timeless quality to them.

Anton Stephans, “All About that Bass” / “Bang Bang” – Wait, what? We have no idea what compelled Simon Cowell to think that these songs are right for him.

Kiera Weathers, “Return of the Mack” – Suddenly it’s strange for someone to do only one song.

Monica Michael, “Crazy in Love” – This is a big song. Luckily, Monica probably has the pipes and the presence to pull it off.

Lauren Murray, “Hold Back the River” – If she can make this song sound like something new, we’ll be impressed.

Louisa Johnson, “Billie Jean” – Let’s just hope it’s not another slowed-down version of a fast song, since we had that last week.

Seann Miley Moore, “California Dreamin” – This could be fun. It’s far from what we expected from him, but it could still work.

Che Chesterman, “You Can’t Hurry Love” – With Che, we really would’ve preferred him to do something a little more current here.

Mason Noise, “Teardrops” – We’re not that familiar with this song, but it’s risky. Mason probably needs risk to surprise people given his reputation so far.
