Ratings: ‘Bones’ – ‘Sleepy Hollow’ crossover helps both shows; ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ low

While everyone may have questioned whether or not the “Bones” – “Sleepy Hollow” crossover was a good idea for Fox (we ended up rather enjoying it), we do feel like the show when the dust settled accomplished precisely what it was meant to: It convinced more people to continue to watch these shows than the episode before.

Winners – The “Bones” portion of the crossover scored a 1.3 in the key 18-49 demographic, a nice increase from the week before … but still not as impressive percentage-wise as the 29% “Sleepy Hollow” added on its way to a 1.1. Granted, that’s still not a rating that will probably get it renewed, bug beggars can’t be choosers at this point with the show. At least they both got a little bit more exposure.

Meanwhile, “The Blacklist” (1.5) was one of the few other shows on the night to show improvement versus the week before, and we’ll give it some credit for holding most of its audience this season. Whatever it did to lose viewers during season 2 is not holding here.

Losers – Are fewer and fewer people saying #TGIT these days? The numbers certainly suggest so. While “Scandal” (2.3) had the night’s best rating among scripted programming, it was down versus the week before. The same went for “How to Get Away with Murder” (1.8), which fell more than 10%. Still, in context with the rest of the ABC lineup neither show is going anywhere. The Viola Davis series and “Quantico” are the only two 10:00 p.m. series on the network right now averaging about a 1.5 in live+same-day figures.

Also, rough news for The CW: Both “The Vampire Diaries” (0.5) and “The Originals” (0.4) stayed as low as they were last week.
