TV Quick Hits: ‘Grimm’ season 5 scoop; ‘The Whispers’ (seemingly) canceled; NBC comedy news

Grimm -Grimm” premiere scoop – Have you been missing “Grimm” on your TV? The show returns on October 30, and what we’ve got you below are the first details on the premiere entitled “The Grimm Identity.” No word on if this title means that we’re going to see Matt Damon as a Wesen anytime soon:

“In the wake of his mother’s beheading and Juliette’s death, things have never been more chaotic for Nick (David Giuntoli). Having lost so much, Nick must dig deep and decide what type of person he wants to be, while also coming to grips with fathering a child with his once sworn enemy, Adalind (Claire Coffee). His search for the truth leads him to FBI Agent Chavez (guest star Elizabeth Rodriguez) and puts him at odds with those close to him.”

Expect to see the aftermath of what Nick has been through to be a recurring theme for at least the first part of the season.

Is “The Whispers” canceled? – While ABC hasn’t confirmed it, the tweet below from Milo Ventimiglia (uncovered by SpoilerTV) makes it more of a certainty than it was previously. We never had too much hope for the future of the show, which struggled mightily in the ratings throughout its first season.

Comedy scoop – NBC has reduced the orders of two of its upcoming comedies, “Hot and Bothered” and “Superstore,” to 11 episodes rather than the initial 13. Per Deadline, this is not meant as a slight against their quality so much as just the amount of time available. A shorter order proved itself valuable to “The Carmichael Show” this summer, as it was renewed after just six episodes on the air.
