‘Girl Meets World’ season 2, episode 20 reaction: Riley shares her feelings with Lucas in Texas

Girl Meets World -While “Girl Meets World” is a story all about a variety of different things, we feel like at this point, it is more of a story about friendship than it is finding true love. The first part of “Girl Meets Texas” Friday night proved that.

This particular episode put Riley Matthews front and center for one of the most important decisions of her young life: Did she want to take something away from Maya, or act selflessly and put her own feelings aside? She chose the latter, as the episode ended with her telling Lucas that she loved him, but like a “brother.” Then, she told Maya to tell Lucas how she felt about him. It was clear from the moment she threatened to never speak with him again if he got aboard a bull that she had feelings, and despite her attitude towards him at times, did not want to see him hurt.

Do we think that these confessions rock the course of the entire series? Not really, since these people are still young and there is plenty of time for things to turn around. We think that all they really show us, at least for the time being, is that Riley cares more about making her best friend happy than making her miserable and flaunting something in her face. There may be something there when it comes to her struggling to communicate with Lucas if the two were actually together, but we do think that those feelings are there.

Aside from the relationship surprise, the rest of the first part of this special was fun. Sure, the Texas stereotypes were ridiculous and over-the-top, but that’s the kind of show this is! Anyone who takes them seriously probably needs to question why they like this show.
