ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5 spoilers: Tony Goldwyn on ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ crossover hopes

Fitz -

The fifth season of “Scandal” is already delivering on a wide array of twists, mostly notably Olivia Pope and her decision to try and destroy her reputation in front of the world. This is a show that tries to get ever crazier with each passing day, and there are few things at this point that could take this show to another level. Doing a crossover event with “How to Get Away with Murder” is one of them.

With that said, would this actually happen? It seems unlikely for many reasons, even if the two shows have the benefit of featuring largely-separate casts that do not overlap much. It’d be harder for there to be a crossover between shows like “Scandal” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” given that there are actors in there who have appeared on both shows.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview, one thing that series star Tony Goldwyn made very clear is that in the event the opportunity arose, he would be thrilled to take on some sort of event:

“I’m open to anything. Are you kidding? To get to act with Viola and that cast … I think it’d be super cool.”

Also, we feel like it’d be a great ratings boon to both shows, which could use a little bit of a bump. While they are both far and away still huge hits on the ABC schedule, they do have a little bit of work to do to sustain the viewers that they have and remain popular in the long-term. You have to constantly change things up to keep viewers invested.
