MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 5, episode 7 preview: What are Matty’s plans for college?

There are only a few episodes left in the first half of “Awkward” season 5, and as a result of that, only a few more opportunities to see just how some of these characters are starting to plan for their futures beyond high school.

For Matty in particular, one of the big questions is whether or not he is going to allow his personal feelings for Jenna impact his own collegiate future? At the moment, he seems fairly confident that he is going to attend Berkeley based on the sneak peek below … even though he has not confirmed it yet. Why not? Maybe it has something to do with him thinking about attending a smaller school in Maine, one that is closer to where Jenna is going.

This sneak peek also makes it clear that Jenna may have asked Matty out, which is the first significant movement the two have had in the romance department this season after dancing around the topic forever. It’s also nice to see that the friendship between Matty and Jake has healed somewhat after the spring break disaster; we didn’t want to see the guys spending the past couple of episodes of the year fighting at each other’s throats.

Sure, we imagine that Jake and Matty will have more time for bonding moments in the second half of the season, but that is months away and will also flash-forward to one year after some of these characters start up school. A lot can change in that time.
