‘Scorpion’ season 2, episode 4 preview: Peri Gilpin arrives; plus, an underwater mission

“Scorpion” continues to have somewhat of a revolving door situation going on when it comes to the Deputy Homeland Director. We had Alana de la Garza on the show for the first part of the season, but with her heading over to “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” the show needed someone new for this role. This is where Peri Gilpin comes into play! The former “Frasier” star is going to be joining the show in the role of Katherine Cooper, and will hopefully bring with her a different dynamic to the show and the team.

What we also expect to see on this episode is a classic story of survival, one where the team has to figure out how to keep themselves from running out of oxygen while aboard a submarine. Sound intense to anyone else? The synopsis below does a good job of laying out the stakes:

“Walter, Cabe and Happy are trapped with the crew in a top secret submarine when an explosion sends it to the bottom of the ocean with limited oxygen and a self-destruct function that will soon activate, on SCORPION, Monday, Oct. 12 (9:00-9:59 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Peri Gilpin guest stars as Deputy Homeland Director Katherine Cooper.”

We are sure that this episode is going to have some of the same trademark humor that we’ve seen in some others over the years, but for the most part, CBS just wants to bill it based on the action. We understand why: It’s easier to tell that story.
