‘The Leftovers’ season 2 spoilers: Carrie Coon on Nora Durst’s emotional struggle

Leftovers -From the moment that you first met the character of Nora Durst on “The Leftovers,” it was incredibly easy to be intrigued by her story. She lost everyone in the Departure and head to work to build her life from scratch. After many hardships, she started to find someone in Kevin Garvey who she could relate to, and come the start of season 2, we’re going to see the two of them not only together, but in a new place: Miracle, Texas. This is the land without departures.

For Nora, this place marks a chance for her to start with a clean slate, but there is one more question you still have to wonder: Will she be able to? Speaking about this subject in an interview with TVLine, the excellent Carrie Coon cautions that this character has become so attached to her darkness and her past that it will not be a particularly easy thing for her to let go of anytime soon:

“The stakes are life and death. If Nora lets go of her grief, who is she? That’s not an easy struggle. It’s not an easy question. So inevitably it’s not going to go very smoothly.”

The one thing that will make matters worse is that Miracle is far from what it seems. We’re not going to go so far to say that this is one of those trademark TV towns that is harboring a ton of dark secrets or eating their residents a la a Terminus, but no Utopia has a perfect record. It is easy to figure out that some creepy characters would want to come here to stir up trouble.
