NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Manny Cabo sings ‘Here I Go Again’

There is another new episode of “The Voice” airing on NBC Monday night, and we’ve got a sneak peek below that is focusing on yet another potentially-impressive new contestant this season in Manny Cabo.

Who is Manny? We don’t get any sort of package on him or his history in the video below, but we do get the full audition of him performing the classic rock song “Here I Go Again.” He gets all four coches to turn around, and he’s really good. He hits all of the big notes, and more than that he’s got the swagger to pull off what we certainly believe to be a particularly difficult challenge. Not everyone can or really even should try to do this song.

As for who Manny should pick out of the coaches, it feels like the obvious route would be to go with Adam Levine, given that he is the modern rock star of the group. However, we actually think that Gwen Stefani would be an intriguing choice for him. She has an appreciation for these songs, but she’s also a master of unique staging and performances. She may be able to give Manny a platform to do some unique things that would help him stand out.

After all, we feel like the biggest obstacle for Manny is that there are probably many other rock singers out there with pretty good voices and similar looks. You do have to do something if you want to break out from the mold.
