‘Fear the Walking Dead’ finale spoilers: Expect death and much more

fear -On Sunday night’s new episode of “Fear the Walking Dead,” we had a chance to see what was effectively the beginning of the end of Los Angeles as we knew it: A community that at least still had some semblance of hope to it. In the early days, the zombie virus was something no one wanted to take seriously, but now, they no longer have a choice. They have to figure out how to survive, and for some, it may even mean escape.

So what is the problem with our main characters here? It may be as simple as getting them all together and preparing them for what is to come … but things that do seem simple on the surface rarely turn out to be that way in this slightest. In setting up the season 1 finale to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Dave Erickson made it very clear some of what you can anticipate seeing:

“It will be the deadliest episode of the season. There’s a ticking clock. Travis, Madison, Daniel, Alicia and Chris are going to find out that their community isn’t safe anymore. They’re not going to have the protection that they thought they thought they would [with the National Guard] and they still don’t have their family back [with Nick, Liza and Griselda, the latter of whom they think is still alive]. Travis’ efforts to save Nick, Griselda and Liza didn’t work, and we don’t really get to comment on it. What Daniel did worked and now he has information and pieces that are going to enable the group to hopefully take some action going into the finale and try to save their people — and themselves.”

One luxury that this show does have is the creative flexibility to continue telling the story. The show was already renewed for a second season, and it will be 15 episodes long. That’s a chance to tell more than double the story that we’ve come to see so far.
