ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: The mystery of Vikram Singh

While there are elements of the “Castle” premiere earlier this week that we did have particular reservations about, one thing that we did rather appreciate about the episode was how new showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley tried to bring back as many different threads from past seasons as possible. We had an appearance from Bracken in “XY,” just as we also had a mention of Castle’s disappearance and Beckett’s time in Washington.

As a matter of fact, it feels going into Monday night’s new episode “XX” that Beckett’s DC work is one of the reasons behind her recent capture, and there is someone else involved who is going to be a recurring fixture this season: Vikram Singh.

Who is he? What we know right now is that this is a character, played by Sunkrish Bala, who had some sort of connection to what Beckett was doing with McCord down in Washington. He is also some sort of tech expert who could end up being a valuable member of her team eventually in the precinct.

Right now, we do know that the NYPD needs some further members of its investigative team. With Gates gone and Beckett in the Captain’s role, right now Esposito and Ryan are the only two people who are out there in the field on a consistent basis. Granted, we’re sure that Kate will find a way still to get out there, but her role at this point has clearly changed from what it was at one point.
