‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Jamie Chung (finally) returning as Mulan
It feels like we’ve waited forever to see the next chapter of Mulan’s story on “Once Upon a Time,” but the good news now is that the waiting may finally be at an end!
As first reported by E! News, Jamie Chung is going to return in multiple episodes of the show’s fifth season as the famous warrior, who came close to professing her feelings for Aurora the last time she was on the show. That was well over a year ago, and given the show’s preference to give its characters happy endings, there was a feeling of sadness that the only LGBT character introduced into the show’s universe was the one who seemed to be stuck without love.
Is this something that is going to change in the new season? The writers really did make it hard for something to ever happen between Mulan and a certain Sleeping Beauty in her last appearance, with Aurora professing that she and Philip were expecting a child together. We haven’t really seen any evidence at all that Aurora has romantic feelings for Mulan, so we’re not quite sure that this is something in the cards or not. (You can watch the video of their last encounter now below.)
If nothing else, we do very much hope that the show finds a way to get Mulan the happiness she deserves. We’re pretty thrilled as a whole to see what executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are planning for season 5, given that we already know Meghan Ory is returning for several episodes as Red. They are really returning to their roots!
