‘Supergirl’ spoilers: Melissa Benoist, cast, producers talk show’s themes and much more

This fall is probably going to be the most eventful one potentially ever when it comes to superhero shows. You of course have “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Gotham” already established, but then you are adding to the mix one in “Legends of Tomorrow” that gives a variety of fan favorite DC characters a chance on TV and then “Supergirl,” a chance to revive something that was beloved back in its heyday.

The new series seems to have a variety of goals: To be inspiring, to tell and emotional story, and to also give you a different take on both the superhero show and also this particular character. The window below is a good piece of insight into what it is like working on the show behind the scenes. Not only do you have stars Melissa Benoist, Jeremy Jordan, and Calista Flockhart on board, but you also have executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti talking about what makes this show special.

One thing that is mentioned here that in particular strikes us is the reminder that Kara Danvers a.k.a. Kara Zor-El is not exactly someone who has lived on Earth since she was a child. She came here when she was a young teenager, and this gives her a different, somewhat more alien worldview than perhaps Clark Kent has. We know in this series that he is off doing his own thing in Metropolis, but the odds of him actually appearing here are doubtful.

“Supergirl” premieres on October 26, and we imagine we’ll have further news very soon!
