Could a ‘Kenan & Kel’ revival ever happen? Kel Mitchell chimes in

Kel -

Thanks to both Kel Mitchell returning to Nickelodeon for the upcoming “Game Shakers” premiering Saturday along with a recent push in nostalgia-fueled TV, we have to admit that we are rather happy right now. After all, we get to talk about some of our old favorites!

It was only a week ago when we first wrote about a new push from Nickelodeon to try and re-develop some of their old properties, with “Rugrats,” “Hey Arnold!”, and “You Can’t Do That on Television” being three of the ones mentioned. These would not necessarily be series, but clearly the network sees some of the value in trying to bring back favorites for a new generation, and to get parents potentially introducing a show to their kids. It’s almost the “Girl Meets World” effect.

So could this ever happen with “Kenan & Kel”? We admit that we would lose it in the best way possible if it did. We loved orange soda, Kenan shouting “why??!!” anytime something went wrong, and basically every character’s reaction to Kel who ever came into contact with him. It was probably one of our five favorite shows growing up, and we loved it even more than “All That,” which first introduced us to the two guys.

As a part of a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter to promote the “Game Shakers” premiere (you can watch the first eleven minutes of the show below, courtesy of the website), Mitchell made it clear with a laugh or two that he would be down for going back into the world of “Kenan & Kel” if the opportunity presents itself:

“I would be into that! I don’t know, I could totally see that happening. I know the fans would want that too, so we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Sure, we know that Kenan is over on “Saturday Night Live” right now and we don’t know if their schedules would ever lineup, but we’re just here, throwing it out into the universe, hoping that it somehow manages to happen.

Therefore, we’ve got a poll below: Do you want to see a “Kenan & Kel” revival, even if it’s just for a TV movie? Vote below, and head over here to get some other TV news on everything we cover sent right to you, courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Nick.)
