‘Fear the Walking Dead’ continues to prove its mettle in live+3 ratings
Just in case you were wondering at all whether or not “Fear the Walking Dead” had lost any real steam in DVR viewing two weeks in, here is the simple answer we have for you: It hasn’t. The AMC show is still going strong, and while the second episode is down from the first, there’s really not anything for the cast and crew to be that ashamed about right now.
Now that the live+3 data for Sunday night’s episode has been fully calculated, we can confirm (per Deadline) that the installment drew in total 11.7 million viewers and 7.6 million in the 18-49 demographic. These are both huge numbers the really dwarf just about everything else on TV in the demo other than maybe the flagship show and “Empire,” and if they stay close to this, AMC will keep it around for as long as humanly possible.
The biggest struggle for “Fear the Walking Dead” is mostly an issue of trying to figure out how to keep people as eager with anticipation about characters they’ve never seen before. There are moments from the comics that fans are still looking forward to seeing on the show, and there’s nothing equivalent to that here. Still, you do at least have a very good, emotional story, and also some intense action … plus zombies. Can you really go wrong with zombies?
There are four more episodes left in the show’s first season, but you’re going to have to wait until September 13 for the next one. Thanks to Labor Day Weekend, the show is taking a week off.
