‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 6, episode 12 (summer finale) spoilers: Is Jane, Maura, or someone else in danger?

Tonight, “Rizzoli & Isles” aired its penultimate episode of the summer, and it is one that brought our leads in Jade and Maura all the way to Los Angeles. This is a chance to change things up when it comes to setting, but when you think about the summer finale next week, it’s more going to change things up when it comes to the story. This is a show that likes to execute some major twists and turns, and they also like to make big, surprising moves in their midseason finales.

“5:26” is the title for this key episode, and anytime that we are given something that is this abstract as a name for an hour, it does tend to inject a little bit of worry into us. The synopsis below via TNT certainly does not help to squelch any of these fears in the slightest:

“When an old watch is found inside a balloon of cocaine in a dead woman’s stomach, figuring out it’s significance becomes the key to protecting Jane — and the people she loves.”

Let’s be pretty clear here that by no means do we want to see another character death! It feels a little like this is something that we had already on the show courtesy of Susie this summer, and we really would be bummed off it the writers decided to remove someone else from the equation so quickly. Unfortunately, it’s very well possible that whatever happens in this episode could end with a cliffhanger, and we’re left waiting until the winter premiere to see what comes next…
