‘Switched at Birth’ season 4, episode 11 reaction: Who is pregnant?

We were promised that there would be some sort of big pregnancy reveal on the season 4 summer premiere of “Switched at Birth,” and this did in fact happen courtesy of a character we did not expect: Lily. She and Toby are now expecting, and we imagine that this is going to be something that has a huge impact on the rest of the season.

The big question for Toby now is how he handles the fact that his girlfriend is having a kid, given that he is still very young and has not really gotten in the place where he has to grow up. This is a big eye-opener, especially when it comes to the fact that her unborn child seems to have Down syndrome. This will cause him and maybe by extension Bay and Daphne to grow up even quicker.

So why introduce this change to the show now? Unplanned pregnancies are first and foremost a part of life, but to go along with that Toby really needed a shake-up in his life beyond just being an aspiring DJ. This gives him some interesting material, and the show likes to take on difficult questions and situations. We’ll get a great opportunity to see how all of this unfolds as we ultimately get deeper and deeper into the season.

As for some other characters on “Switched at Birth” right now, they are having to deal with a variety of their own problems. First and foremost, Bay is handling a breakup, while Daphne is coming to terms with the fact that not everything may be as great between her and her new beau as first planned.
