‘Dancing with the Stars 21’ spoilers: Bindi Irwin first celebrity contestant
We’re sure that we will be extremely cynical and mock some “Dancing with the Stars” casting announcements at some point down the road, but for now, can we just say that we love the first addition to the season 21 cast?
Today, the show announced that 17-year old Bindi Irwin is going to be competing this season, though there are no further details just yet about who she will be working with. Bindi is the daughter of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, who we were a huge fan of and we’ve missed dearly on TV since his passing. We even went to see his movie in theaters!
Bindi is an interesting contestant this season given that she is fairly well-known, but there is still mystery around her given that she has lived most of her life out of the American spotlight. This is also a huge departure from what she typically does; she has done some TV gigs over the years, and remains very active in the wildlife conservation business along with her mother Terri Irwin and her brother.
Ideally, most of the cast members this season will be in the vein of Bindi, someone who viewers will be familiar with, but also someone who will be available for the show to get with their budget in mind. There’s never going to be a perfect cast, but let’s hope that there are only two or three reality stars max and the show doesn’t just try to hire a bunch of YouTube stars and a member of the Kardashian family.
