‘Downton Abbey’ season 6 spoilers: Joanne Froggatt teases resolution (finally) with Mr. Green story
If you’ve been following “Downton Abbey” intently over the years, then you probably know very well already all of the mythos surrounding the death of Mr. Green. While Mr. Bates was not his killer as suspected at one time (and neither was Anna), this is still not something that has been completely explained. The show has really taken its time wrapping it up, but rest assured answers are going to be coming in the final season.
Joanne Froggatt is once again an awards-season contender for playing Anna, and thanks to a new interview she gave via Deadline, we can now offer up the following scoop regarding this story:
“[We] do see the mystery behind Mr. Green’s death resolved. Obviously how it’s resolved I can’t tell you, or whether it’s good or bad for the Bates I can’t tell you, but it’s resolved. We get to the bottom with what exactly happened, and as always, there’s quite a lot of drama for Anna and Mr Bates in season six. There are always bits of happiness there for them as well, but it’s never easily attained, so we sort of carry on in that vein to finish off.”
All we hope for is some sort of happier end to these characters’ stories. If there is anyone who has been through enough on this show, we really do feel like it has to be them in between the prison sentences and all of the other drama.
The new season of “Downton Abbey” will return to ITV this fall, and should also premiere on PBS in January. We’ll have further news as it comes out!

Who is Mr Green, the valet rapist? Sorry, I FF through some of the Bates stuff, it is my least favorite of all the dramas.
