Teen Choice Awards 2015: Gina Rodriguez, Ludacris, Josh Peck set to host
What does an up-and-coming TV star, a rapper famous for songs from several years ago, and the former star of “Drake & Josh” have in common? Not much, other than that Gina Rodriguez, Ludacris, and Josh Peck are all hosting the 2015 Teen Choice Awards come Sunday, August 16.
It is a little strange to have three hosts known for completely different things, but in terms of relevance we get it. Rodriguez is one of TV’s critical darlings right now, even if her snub for “Jane the Virgin” by the Emmys was almost criminal and almost the snobby Television Academy thumbing its nose at The CW. Meanwhile, Ludacris is a star of “The Fast and the Furious” franchise, while Peck is one of the stars of Fox’s upcoming comedy “Grandfathered.” Since Fox is the network that airs the TCAs, let’s not even act remotely surprised that they are looking for some cross-promotion.
Speaking of which, did we announce already that some of Fox’s “Scream Queens” are going to be turning up? Lea Michele, Emma Roberts, and Keke Palmer have all been confirmed to be making an appearance at the show, but this seems appropriate given that they all have appeal to this demographic.
The TCAs also announced today a third wave of nominees, but none of them are really in our wheelhouse and therefore we’re not really that enticed to talk too much about them here. Also, we’re not so sure that you want to win an award that is entitled “Choice Twit.” That sounds almost like someone is pointing and laughing at you.
