‘The Bastard Executioner’ video: See Lee Jones, Flora Spencer-Longhurst on set

TBXThere are a variety of reasons to be excited about FX’s upcoming “The Bastard Executioner,” and one of the biggest ones is an opportunity to see some fresh faces who could be a part of this world for quite some time to come. Sure, we are very familiar with the likes of Katey Sagal and Stephen Moyer, but we’ve also got a few people on this show who we are not particular familiar with at all.

In the video below, you have a chance to meet two of them in Flora Spencer-Longhurst (Lady Love Ventris) and Lee Jones, who plays the title character otherwise known as Wilkin Brattle. Neither actor is likely familiar to American audiences, and in the video below they each discuss what an opportunity this is, and how grateful they are to be a part of this set in this fascinating world created by executive producer Kurt Sutter.

Sutter and his casting team do have a knack for finding great talent; just look at the “Sons of Anarchy” cast as proof. While Charlie Hunnam did have a resume before the show (most notably “Undeclared”), it was far and away his big break. It also elevated character actors like Theo Rossi and Kim Coates to another level. This is a show that could potentially last for several seasons, and could lead to a variety of other opportunities.

Regardless of the story or even the critical reception to the show, we imagine that “The Bastard Executioner” will start of with plenty of exposure for the cast and strong ratings. Sutter’s name is a big part of the reason why, and we do also think that there is intrigue in a gritty medieval drama, something that really has not been done too much on television.
