‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 6, episode 7 review: Couches and convoluted cases
This case was one of the more compelling cases that the show has given us this season, just because of what Jane and Maura had to do in order to figure this out, and it included towing ethical lines and also watching how the show depicted Daniel’s parents. This was difficult to watch, but it was nice to see a fun character like Frankie have to deal with something this serious. He also had many of the night’s best moments as a result, though very few of them had to do with UFOs.
On the negative side of things, let’s talk about the subplots … namely Jane’s couch. We like getting some fun moments between Angie Hamron’s character and the rest of the cast, but this? It was a little random and we know she’s gotten better material then this in the past. Jane has so many hobbies, likes and dislikes that material could be mined from that for years to come, so this couch bit was a let down.
Just for the Daniel story alone, though, and the strength of the performances, this has to be considered one of the season’s best. Also, now that Jane’s apartment burned to the ground we suspect she will be staying with Maura for a while and the more screen time these two have together the better. Grade: B+.
