‘Ray Donovan’ season 3, episode 3 preview: Can Ray, Mickey rescue Terry from prison?

Tonight, “Ray Donovan” gave us an episode where you got to know a little bit more about Paige, and also about what some of the new circumstances are in Ray’s life as he continues to recover from the events of the second season.

So where do we go from here? Well, if there was ever a way to reunite Ray and Mickey and actually force them to work together at times, the next new episode will be it. The promo below is incredibly dramatic, and actually gives you a sense of foreboding perhaps a million times worse than we tend to get from most other previews of this variety. The premise of the episode is ultimately simple enough: Ray and Mickey may end up having to team up, and the primary goal here is seeing what they can do in order to get Terry out of prison. It’s a violent rescue in many ways, and given their ties to him an emotional one.

However, in the midst of all this there is a pretty tangible reason to fear that it is not going to end well: Mickey. We already know his history of working with Ray, and the line that Liev Schreiber says at the end of this promo is particularly telling.

Ultimately, let’s just say that we anticipate this being one of the most important episodes we’ve seen since the season 2 finale, and it’s not often we get one this important so early on in a season.
