ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Nathan Fillion offers assurances on new stories
Clearly, that is the message that Nathan Fillion wants to get out there in regards to the upcoming eighth season of “Castle.” He definitely understands what some of the feelings and sentiments are at the moment when it comes to the story of Castle and Beckett. There have been rumors about their relationship hitting a rough patch, or them simply not working together as much because of a possible career change / promotion for Kate. We’ve never been too concerned, mostly for one reason: Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter know the show. They know that the last thing would want to see is an unhappy ending for these characters, and they are proving moving forward with the intention of telling a fun story, but also one that feels somewhat different.
In elaborating further on his “don’t be worried” comment to TVLine, Fillion makes it clear specifically why fans shouldn’t be too overly concerned:
“In order for a show to continue and move forward, things have to change and things have changed over the years for these two. It’s simply another change, and it’s going to continue to be great. It’s all part of moving forward and not boring [anyone] with what happened last season.”
Fillion also said that he has not even met the new series regular Toks Olagundoye (Hayley) just yet, and would not offer any details on how she will be factoring into the story other than that she apparently killed it at her recent audition for the part.
As for whether or not season 8 is the last, Fillion uttered a simple “never say never.” This is the longest he’s ever held a job, and he does seem to be continuing to enjoy the work.
“Castle” premieres on ABC September 21, and we imagine that there will be more news before then. For now, read what Toks had to say about joining the show here, and sign up to get some more updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)

Great article. Allieves fears about a Caskett break up and maintains logical suspense (the “logical part missing most of the summer) on the possible new career for Beckett. Welcomes Toks (Hayley) to the show but does not mention the remaining character yet to be identified (again, a little suspense). If Nathan and Stana are looking forward to season 8 then so am I. The new show runners have not been “battle tested” yet but they seem to be well aware of what the fans want and have a history on the show that was met with fan approval. All in all it should be a great season and I am looking forward to it.
