‘Sherlock’ season 4: Who is honoring Benedict Cumberbatch now?
While you await patiently any sort of news pertaining to the fourth season of “Sherlock,” know that there are still many people who are holding the show’s star in Benedict Cumberbatch in incredibly high regard. How else would you describe the announcement that has come in today?
It has been confirmed that Benedict, fresh off of being honored by the Crown in the United Kingdom, has been invited to become a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. In other words, he can vote on the Oscars! He joins a prestigious club that includes potential inductees Emma Stone, Eddie Redmayne, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pine, David Oyelowo, J.K. Simmons, and many more. It is a nice group to be a part of, and it is an honor to be able to vote in such a thing.
Since becoming a breakout star courtesy of “Sherlock,” it is hard to deny that Cumberbatch’s movie career has allowed him to soar to completely new heights. Most actors in his shoes would have probably just abandoned TV altogether, but it is both his love for the Holmes character coupled with a flexible shooting schedule that allow him to maintain a presence in the role alongside Martin Freeman.
You are likely to potentially see at least some sort of “Sherlock” special later this year, provided that you are in the BBC. It is a special set during the Victorian era, and it is meant mostly to be an entertaining one-off. There is no word on when it could air in America, or when the rest of season 4 will (it has not even been filmed as of yet).
