Is ‘Girl Meets World’ season 2, episode 9 new tonight on Disney Channel?

The past two months have been especially kind to “Girl Meets World.” You had the first five episodes of season 2 all in the span of a single week, and since that time there have been three other episodes throughout the month of June.

Sadly, this week the run ends … at least for now. There is no new episode on the Disney Channel tonight, and there will not be until we get around to Friday, July 10. It makes no sense that there would be one next week, either, since the network will want to preserve episodes for when there are likely viewers around. People often travel or celebrate during the Fourth of July holiday. (Yes, we know next Friday is July 3, but that is really close enough.)

So when the show does return, it will do so with an episode entitled “Girl Meets Mr. Squirrels Goes to Washington,” which will be all about Eric Matthews and some of his political ambitions. What we do very much like about the past several episodes of the show is that while this is still Riley Matthews’ story, we are getting more of an ensemble sensibility and reminders that there are lessons that the current generation of young viewers can learn from these older “Boy Meets World” characters. We saw a lot of Shawn in this past episode, and a chance to see more of Eric is certainly welcome.

Ultimately, we know that there are going to most likely be even more cameos in this same capacity as we get further and further along in the story. There will be multiple new episodes that air in the month of July.
