‘Under the Dome’ season 3 spoilers: More news on an unlikely alliance
Sometimes, desperate times do call for desperate measures, and in the world of “Under the Dome,” that may mean finding some unlikely allies in order to ensure that you stay alive. Throughout the first time seasons of the show, Big Jim and Julia have not exactly been pals; that’s what happens when one of them tries to kill the other one!
However, on the upcoming third season of the sci-fi show premiering on Thursday night, what happens is that some untimely circumstances, plus a potential change of heart when it comes to Julia’s philosophy about the role of the dome, could cause her and Dean Norris’ character to start to work together. It seems a little bit unusual, but speaking to TV Guide, executive producer Neal Baer does a good job of explaining what is motivating them:
“Julia and Big Jim become – I wouldn’t say bosom buddies, but they certainly become allies against everyone. They unite against the enemy within. That’s the theme of this season … struggling to live under the dome and fight the enemy within. And it’s not Big Jim … Big Jim and Julia really come to terms where he says, ‘You’ve always said the Dome was here to protect us. You’ve always had faith in the Dome. You’re wrong,’ and Julia comes to see that maybe Big Jim is right.”
It is somewhat ironic that we are sitting here and writing in a way about unification, mostly because of the fact that this is actually one of the biggest things that this series needs to do going into its third season. There were a variety of things that held season 2 back, but one of the biggest ones is that it was somewhat hard to follow where the story was going sometimes. Concentrating your villains and focusing on your characters to us seem to be the right way to pull ahead.
