‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: Exec on general theme of story
The second season of “Empire” is coming to Fox on September 23. While you may not find too many specific details floating around out there, how about a general sense of what the plot will be? That is something that we can very much offer!
Speaking to Deadline in general terms, executive producer Danny Strong stated that “if season one was ‘who will inherit the throne’, then season two is ‘warring kingdoms.’” To us, that means that we will anticipate even more discord at Empire Entertainment with Lucious Lyon locked away here. The thing to remember is that while he may be behind bars, that does not by any means render him completely powerless. There are still many ways that the character an have his voice heard.
When it comes to whether or not there is an increased amount of pressure put upon him and the writers by the show’s success, Strong said simply that the priority for him is just ensuring that audiences are delivered more of what they enjoy:
“I definitely don’t feel the pressure to make it more amazing or to make it better or bigger or anything like that. I think that in season one we succeeded in telling our story and that it worked, and so it’s just a matter of continuing the story, and making the story work. I find making the story work so difficult, and no one wants it to be as good as I do. So the pressure I put on myself usually exceeds any pressure I feel about anything–so it’s more of the same to be honest.”
