‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 spoilers: When production begins and much more

Game of Thrones -

Game of Thrones” season 5 just ended, but our feeling is that we are still going to be spending plenty of time speculating on the future. We’ve also got a dark hallway before us with season 6. Nobody really knows what happens next save for a select few, and that may stay that way if George R.R. Martin does not get The Winds of Winter in stores before the new season begins.

So what we can at least tell you for now is that production on the new season formally begins next month, which means that the show better hire extra security! We can only imagine now that there will be an insane amount of people trying to figure out what happens next.

Ultimately, the show’s executive producers are not going to try to worry too much about specific reactions from book readers. Ultimately, they seem to have a good perspective together, based on what executive producer Dan Weiss told Entertainment Weekly:

“I’d like to think the unpredictability of the show relative to the books where sometimes the show cleaves to the books and sometimes it departs from the books creates a kind of separate-if-obviously-very-closely-related universe that can coexist … You can’t dictate people’s reactions but I hope there’s an element of surprise introduced into the show’s narrative that makes it exciting for both people who read the books and people who watch the show and haven’t read the books yet.”

We understand being bummed out if you were a book reader and you’ve had that upper hand on the show, and since they came first, their plight makes sense. Yet, it’s all entertainment! We’re not going to worry about differences between the show and source material, and we are going to have some fun seeing what lies ahead.
