‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 finale reaction: Show bosses on Jon Snow, Cersei, Stannis, Arya scenes

Sometimes, HBO does not get a chance to cover every bit of ground possible in their “inside the episode” videos for “Game of Thrones.” Sometimes, there is not enough time, or really not enough important to deserve some sort of added insight from executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Well, that cannot be said for what took place on the season finale Sunday. Below, you can see the producers look at almost every key scene of the episode, whether it be some of the terrible deaths (Stannis! Jon Snow! Myrcella!), or some of the other shocking events like Arya potentially losing her sight as a punishment for not following the rules properly of the House of Black and White. Actions have punishments, and in the case of Jon, it does not necessarily even mean that he meets his end at the hands of extremely bad people. The Night’s Watch is preserving their own self-interest, and they believe that what he did went against that.

Benioff and Weiss are probably still facing at least a little bit of backlash just from outspoken fans who are upset about what transpired in the episode, but they have to be used to it at this point. In the case of Jon, they are at least staying reasonably close to George R.R. Martin’s vision … though we feel like it is a little more likely that he makes it through alive in the books than he does in the show.
