2015 CMT Awards: Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan big winners

CMT Awards -We’ve talked on a few separate occasions now on the huge array of country music awards shows that are out there, and the 2015 CMT Awards are one particular show you can add to the list. This is a fusion of country music and television more than some of the other broadcasts, so we can at least celebrate this for now by saying that it is at least doing something to stand out from the mold.

When it comes to the winners, though, let’s go ahead and be honest here when we say that there are not necessarily many surprises in here. Country fans tend to vote for their longstanding favorites, and this is also precisely what we saw happen this year. Take a look below for some of the winners for the major categories.

Video of the Year – Carrie Underwood, “Something in the Water.”

Male Video of the Year – Luke Bryan, “Play It Again”

Female Video of the Year – Carrie Underwood, “Something in the Water”

Group Video of the Year – Lady Antebellum, “Bartender”

Duo Video of the Year – Florida Georgia Line, “Dirt”

Breakthrough Video of the Year – Sam Hunt, “Leave the Night On”

Collaborative Video of the Year – Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, “Something Bad”

CMT Performance of the Year – Bob Seger and Jason Alden, “Turn the Page” (from CMT Crossroads)

Overall, clearly a big night for Carrie, who is probably going to get a whole lot of attention even still in the months ahead. Given that “American Idol” is concluding next year after its fifteenth season, we do hope that she is featured in some way as one of the greatest winners of all time.
