‘New Girl’ season 5 spoilers: A change in terms of Zooey Deschanel’s time away

Just how many episodes of “New Girl” season 5 is Zooey Deschanel going to miss? The actress is going to be on maternity leave for most of the months ahead, but eventually, she will be back at work trying to make you laugh.

Luckily, a certain move by Fox is going to benefit all parties involved, provided that you are okay with waiting a little longer. Originally, Zooey was going to be absent for around four episodes, since that was the way the production schedule fell with the show’s planned fall premiere date. Now that “New Girl” is not premiering until midseason, that is changing a little bit. According to TVLine, she is now only going to miss a single episode. Granted, it is possible that a later premiere could lead to some changes in the episode count, but nothing has been confirmed when it comes to that.

More than anything else, what we’d like to see for “New Girl” moving forward is something when it comes to actual support for the show on Tuesday night. If you remember all the way back during the first season, the show was premiering to really impressive ratings. What happened after that was a ton of breaks for baseball and other matters, and then eventually it started to air without any sort of lead-in. Then, it became a part of an ill-fated Tuesday night comedy block.

Next season is ultimately going to feel different in general, given that Damon Wayans Jr. (Coach) has departed and we now are back to the same five primary cast members who were there from the second episode on.
