‘Empire’ season 2: Who is penning a memoir?
“Empire” has become an enormous success story in a short amount of time, and it is also making people such as Terence Howard and Taraji P. Henson into household names. With this in mind, it is pretty hard to imagine anyone not wanting to take advantage of this success to a certain degree.
In a new statement per Vulture, Gabourey Sidibe (recently promoted officially to series regular) has confirmed that she will be publishing her own memoir through Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and that it will be released at some point in 2017. She explains that this is something she’s wanted to do for a long time, and that she does have a very wide array of stories still to tell:
“I’ve been writing since I was a child and have always had so many stories to tell that are too long, shady, and impolite to share in interviews … It brings me much joy to add Published Writer to my résumé of Actor and part-time Foot Model.”
Unless the ratings for “Empire” just happen to suddenly fall off of a cliff at some point in the second season (which premieres on Wednesday, September 23), we feel pretty strongly that she’s going to get a great chance to appeal with this to some crowd. Then again, she probably also needs the show to stay a hint moving into a third season; while the series has for now only been ordered for one more go-around, it feels to us almost inevitable that it will get another turn in the spotlight beyond this.
