ABC fall series ‘Of Kings and Prophets’ pushed back to midseason

Of Kings -We were worried somewhat for the new ABC series “Of Kings and Prophets” the moment that news came out earlier today suggesting that “Quantico” was taking its timeslot Sunday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. Typically by the time a fall schedule is announced, shows are typically locked in and there is very little movement. It’s with this in mind that something must have happened after the fact to cause network executives to have a little bit of pause.

While we cannot speak to everything behind the scenes at the moment, we can at least say this. According to a report coming in from Deadline, the show is undergoing some “retooling” in order to be better prepared for midseason. This means that there are going to be some roles recast, and there will also be some other changes that are not as clear on the surface.

We definitely did understand why ABC wanted to bring this show onto their schedule. After all, epics are currently hot courtesy of “Game of Thrones,” and this was an opportunity to try something very different and appeal to a different audience than what the network traditionally does. Unfortunately for them, though, it has not worked out exactly as they planned so far.

One other change that is important to mention here: The episode order for the series has decreased from 13 episodes to ten. That may be in part due to the show needing time to make changes, and also so that there is greater schedule flexibility down the line. Stay tuned for more.
