‘Britain’s Got Talent’ review: Emma Jones, Lorraine Bowen, the Kingdom Tenors, and more
While we know that the last episode of “Britain’s Got Talent” before the live semifinals is coming up soon, we do at least want to spend a few moments here talking about the acts that we genuinely considered notable from this past episode for a variety of different reasons. Some of them were legitimately good. Meanwhile, some others were far from good. If nothing else, we can say with some confidence that at least a wide array of them captured our attention.
The biggest thing that there was an overabundance of in the episode were singers. Doesn’t “The X Factor” have enough of those already? We do like to think so, but maybe we are wrong and someone desperately does still think that we need more.
The Kingdom Tenors – Sure, it is nothing that we’ve really heard before, but they are a very good vocal group with awesome harmonies. What they struggle with is that they are too big to really be a group, but too small to be considered a massive choir. They are never going to stand out individually.
Lorraine Bowen – Yes, we know that she is terrible, but there is something about the way David Walliams uses his golden buzzer that is still so appealing. Also, the same goes for the look on Simon Cowell’s face. Lorraine seems lovely; a little delusional, but still lovely.
Emma Jones – Emma’s vote is incredible, and better than even some of the other opera singers that we have seen on this show. Hopefully, the series won’t go with this same “nervous” narrative throughout the rest of her time out there. That has been done so many times already that we’ve lost count.
Danny Posthill – Great fun, even though as an American writer we don’t know all of the impressions that well in terms of accuracy. We’re personally just thrilled to see an audience react so well to something comedy-oriented on the show.
