‘The Bachelorette’: Was Britt Nilsson or Kaitlyn Bristowe officially chosen?

Tonight, “The Bachelorette” had several different orders of business, but one of the biggest ones of course was actually choosing who was going to be revealing just who was actually chosen by the men on the season. Obviously, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson were facing this from the moment they entered the house … and for those in the know, this choice has been known for some time. Kaitlyn is the Bachelorette!

We wondered for a long time if ABC was actually going to come out and officially reveal this choice themselves at one point, almost as a preemptive strike against spoilers. So why didn’t they do something like this? The simple answer we can offer you right now is that they know that the majority of the audience still doesn’t care that much about learning who is the Bachelorette or who wins in advance. There are many different fans, and they all find different ways in which to watch.

Of course, Britt was very upset about not being picked by the men, and given where she was in the moment, we don’t blame her. While we never thought that the twist was necessarily offensive, we did think it was a little cruel to make these people go through with this sort of pain and rejection all over again.

Is Britt going to be okay? Probably, but she did really want this, but then again so did Kaitlyn! She is the one with a job to do now, and that is something that we are going to be seeing for quite a while moving forward. Her journey will be front and center.
