‘The Flash’ season 1 finale spoilers: Barry Allen’s surprising chat with dad

It has been a few episodes now since we’ve seen Henry Allen on “The Flash,” and despite the fact that the man has spent the entire series and many years before that sitting behind bars, he is filled with much more sage wisdom than most.

For example, this is a guy still in-tune enough to know in the sneak peek below (via IGN) that while Barry may want to go back in time as The Flash in order to save his mother, that may not be the right move. Time is a delicate thing; while it may not be a flat circle like Matthew McConaughey thinks, it is a domino effect. One thing can change a variety of other things. What if Barry saves his mother, and this ends up leading to other people dying, or him never being taken down the path to become the Flash? This could send the entire future into peril. Fans familiar with the Flashpoint series are going to get a few references most likely in here.

Given what we’ve seen already in the previews, it is fair to say already that Barry does decide to go back to the night of his mother’s death, but whether or not he changes anything is to be seen. If he does, could this be what triggers the transformation of Caitlin Snow into Killer Frost in the present? It’s possible, but we’re not so big of a fan of that. We’d rather have the entire season we watch matter in the timeline, and find some other way for her to become that character.
