‘The Mindy Project’ officially saved by Hulu, renewed for 26-episode season 4
Hulu really seems to like “The Mindy Project” at the moment. How else do you explain the boffo renewal that the show just received? Here is what we can say about it right now: It is for a whopping 26 episodes, which we assume are going to be split up probably over the course of two, 13-episode bunches … even if they are technically categorized as one season.
So why is this being handled in such a way? The simple answer to that is that it is probably cheaper financially for Hulu to give two seasons packaged in many ways as one, that way it can save a little bit of cash with the natural raises that would come over time. This is similar to what we saw with a “Rookie Blue” renewal recently.
We know that the majority of you out there probably do not care too much about the finer details anyway, at least in comparison to the sole fact that the show is actually coming back for another season. Fox canceled the show earlier this month, with its ratings being the significant reason why.
As for why this is suddenly a better fit for Hulu, we feel like it is really just a matter of it being a little more suited to the internet, with its extremely young audience and capability to be watched at any place at any time. Admittedly, we wish that we had the numbers from “Community” to know how that fared on Yahoo Screen.
