‘Constantine’ season 2 hopes: Talks still taking place with The CW

Constantine -For all of those still dreaming about there potentially being a second season of “Constantine” on TV, there is virtually zero reason to give up hope … at least for the time being. As executive producer Daniel Cerone posted on Twitter tonight, both Warner Bros. and The CW are at least discussing the idea of getting this show off the ground on the network.

We like to be solutions-oriented here, and therefore we have an idea that we first mentioned all the way back when we first heard that there could be another spin-off for the network’s DC universe over the course of the next TV season: Why not going with the split-season format similar to “Agents of SHIELD” and “Agent Carter”? In this case, maybe you run 11-12 episodes of “Arrow” and “The Flash” in the fall, go on break for Christmas, and then rush ten episodes of “Constantine” and “Legends of Tomorrow” during a hiatus. Then, you bring back the flagship shows again.

For “Constantine” to work, we do feel like the network and the studio will have to get fairly creative. The CW already has a pretty jam-packed schedule, and they have already ordered more shows than they have timeslots for at any one time. With that being said, “Constantine” would be a hit on the network if they could transfer over all over the viewers and the demo totals that they had from NBC on Friday night. While it’s unlikely that they would equal the audience, they could probably at least get close. Including John Constantine in an episode of “Arrow” or “The Flash” could also certainly help.

Given how much we’re already thinking about possibilities, you better expect some more updates on this subject soon enough.
