‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2: Spin-off with Adrianne Palicki, Nick Blood nixed

Agents -For now, ABC is going to limit their Marvel roster to just “Agents of SHIELD” and the surprisingly-renewed “Agent Carter.”

On the same day that reports started to come in about both of these shows coming back for additional seasons, the network also let it be known that the quietly-planned spin-off starring Adrianne Palicki (Bobbi Morse) and Nick Blood (Lance Hunter) will not be happening. Given that the other two shows are coming back, we are not surprised; there is only so much room on the network’s schedule, especially when you consider that the Marvel shows are not necessarily proving to be a massive force in the ratings these days.

Still, it is yet another bit of bad luck for Palicki when it comes to her attempts to get her own superhero show. Previously, she was attached to a “Wonder Woman” pilot at NBC that ended up not going anywhere despite some early hopes that it could. (“Wonder Woman” is now being planned for the big screen.)

Hopefully, this is not some indication that either Palicki or Blood will be leaving “Agents of SHIELD” itself, and that they will continue to have some sort of roles there. The season 2 finale for these shows will air on ABC Tuesday night, and if there is anything that we can take away directly from this news, it is probably confirmation that neither party is going to be killed off in the near future.

We do imagine that Marvel will try to launch another TV spin-off soon enough featuring an interesting character; the large question will just be just who this character is. There hasn’t really been a pure superhero series for them on ABC, and we wonder if that could be considered.
