‘Galavant,’ ‘Agent Carter,’ ‘Secrets & Lies’ season 2 official; ‘American Crime’ also renewed
Tonight has turned into all sorts of insanity when it comes to TV news, mostly because ABC decided to wait until right smack in the middle of primetime to suddenly decide that this would be a great opportunity to confirm all of their latest news. Confused? So are we, but this is apparently just how they roll at the moment.
Still, we’ve got some GREAT news for those of you who love underdog shows like “Galavant” and “Agent Carter”: They are both renewed! The former has an amazing ability to court guest stars, while the latter has that Marvel connection that is certainly all-important. For the record, “Agents of SHIELD” was also renewed, and for us, the biggest surprise is hearing that “American Crime” is coming back. Ironically, it comes a day after getting a Critics’ Choice TV Award nomination for limited series. Not so limited now, right?
Some of the other renewals are joyous, but expected: “Modern Family,” “black-ish,” everything Shonda Rhimes, “Secrets & Lies” (which has performed well as of late), “Fresh Off the Boat,” “The Goldbergs,” and “Nashville.” The only other somewhat surprise is “The Middle,” but that is only because it, like “Castle,” is going through contract issues. Charlie McDermott may be going over to CBS and its attempt to get “Super Clyde” on the air again.
Hopefully, we’ll get a whole lot more information in regards to some of these renewals and what they mean soon, but probably not until we get to the upfront presentations taking place next week. Stay tuned for more of that.

I am so excited about Galavant and Agent Carter (I don’t know if my near daily tweeting to Renew each of these shows helped, but I in my head it did!)
I honestly haven’t seen American Crime – but it’s been suggested to me by a few people, so seems like a good time to catch up on it.
For the most part, ABC has made me a very happy TV consumer – and unless there are HUGE surprises from CBS, FOX, and NBC I have a feeling that when I do get to watch live, I’ll be mostly watching ABC this year. (I’m honestly not sure how families with children in soccer and dance and school functions and everything else that goes on these days are supposed to handle “appointment tv”).
