‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, episode 23 review: ‘Time Stops’ brings Meredith forward

Even though “Grey’s Anatomy” did have two hours last week in order to properly close the door on the Derek Shepherd character, much of it still found a way to bleed into Thursday night, which was yet another emotional, jam-packed edition that was not exactly easy to watch at times.

To us, the most gut-wrenching moment was something that was largely inevitable for Meredith Grey. She knew that at some point, she was probably going to have to pay at some point for not informing Amelia what was going on with her brother. She did not have a chance to say goodbye, and she has held a great deal of resentment over it, which is understandable. There is still one more episode for them to piece this all back together, but there is still no guarantee that she actually will.

As for some other key moments that we saw, one of the biggest ones was Richard Webber once again realizing that when it comes to choosing between romance and work, he always chooses work. Tough for Catherine for sure, but also really tough for himself. The relationship drama continues for April and Jackson, and then also Alex and Jo. Once again, it all revolves around conflict and the debate between that and work. Meredith decided to stay with Alex for a while with her kids, mostly because of the sole fact that she was looking for a transition back into regular life that was an easier adjustment.

The episode winded down with us being reminded that this is no easy transition. Unfortunately, it’s going to take some time for everything to get better … if we ever do. Grade: B.
