‘Gotham’ finale spoilers: Things heat up with Barbara, Gordan, and Leslie

Monday night marks the end of “Gotham” season 1, and there are as a whole a wide array of storylines that are going to need to be wrapped up before this series comes to a close for the spring. We know that some of the big-ticket topics at the moment include the likes of seeing how the gang war in Gotham ends along with what happens to Fish Mooney (who is ending her turn on the show Monday), but what about the more romantic side of things? We’ve come to see quite a bit about what is going on for Barbara, Gordon, and Leslie, but these three are going to be in for quite a surprise when all of the cards are put on the table.

For a quick tease on that, just see what executive producer / creator Bruno Heller had to say recently to Entertainment Weekly:

“That is going to bear bitter fruit big time … The audience knows a little more about what’s going on in that love triangle than Gordon or Leslie. They’re going to pay for that ignorance.”

The biggest thing here to remember is fairly simple: Nothing in Gotham is going to be simple or stable for very long. There were reasons to worry about Jim’s personal life from the pilot on, and he and Leslie for the most part have avoided too many bumps in the road, at least compared to some other couples.

For these characters, how they handle the surprises thrown at them, especially in the midst of all else going on, is going to be a huge part of this episode.
