‘American Idol’ XIV spoilers: What Nick Fradiani, Rayvon Owen, Quentin Alexander will sing

American Idol -We’ve talked a little already about this week on “American Idol” being themed around “arena anthems.” However, what we have not done until now is actually spend a few minutes talking about what these said anthems will be.

What we’ve learned after looking at the list below (first posted by TVLine) is that the contestants or the producers have a very interesting definition of what an arena theme is. Theme aside, there are a few good choices thrown in here.

Quentin Alexander

The Doors, “Light My Fire” – It can be a little corny on the big stage, but Quentin is naturally cool, so he can make us buy into this.

Florence + the Machine, “Shake It Out” – Cool choice, especially since we have zero clue how he is going to perform this and make it cool.

Clark Beckham

The Beatles, “Yesterday” – He’ll kill this. There’s no reason to worry here.

Justin Bieber, “Boyfriend” – There is EVERY reason to worry here. Given how many people hate Bieber, why bother singing one of his songs? Also the “rap” interlude is really terrible.

Nick Fradiani

Rod Stewart, “Maggie May” – Hey, it’s a page from the Paul McDonald playbook! It’s a good choice, but not altogether surprising.

Maroon 5, “Harder to Breathe” – After looking at this list, it’s clear to us that Nick wants to make it to the top five. However, we don’t see anything in here that exudes “killer instinct.”

Rayvon Owen

Fleetwood Mac, “Go Your Own Way” – Love the song, and it is a smart risk for him to take at this point.

Sam Smith, “I’m Not the Only One” – Probably a little too much in his wheelhouse, but we know he has the range to do it.

Jax

Dido, “White Flag” – Probably the most egregious violation of the week’s theme. A good song, but not exactly an arena track.

Jet, “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” – Funny story. We saw Jet at a music festival once, and most of the crowd was bored until this song came on. Jax can rock this.

Tyanna Jones

Bryan Adams, “Heaven” – Really? It’s so old-fashion, but if she does the DJ Sammy remix we will completely turn around and love it.

Miley Cyrus, “Party in the USA” – We would usually hate it, but Tyanna’s still so young and energetic that she can actually do this song unironically.
