‘Coach’ revival: Craig T. Nelson speaks out for first time
So what does Nelson think about the comedy coming back now? He spoke about the subject while at the TV Land Awards this weekend, and per Entertainment Weekly, he admits to being “anxious” about it. The new show features him coming out of retirement to help his son, who is coaching at an Ivy League school. It’s a slightly different format than the original, but sometimes, change can be good. He admits that he could not have just started the same show and hoped that it would have worked just as well:
“You couldn’t do it now in the same form at all … I think what we’ve come up with, hopefully we can write to and give an opportunity for some new characters.”
Ultimately, we are going to take a wait-and-see approach when it comes to the new show. While we are at least relatively excited to see what happens with Nelson back on the air (he was amazing on “Parenthood”), sometimes you cannot go back. Even “Girl Meets World” has struggled with this at times.
