‘Game of Thrones’ season 5, episode 1: Another promo; what to expect in ‘The Wars to Come’

Tyrion

Tomorrow, “Game of Thrones” returns, and the pieces pop right back on the chessboard. This is a series about complications and allies just as much as it is warfare; it is in many ways just as much chess as it is a game of Risk.

So is there anything in particular you can expect to see transpire over the course of the hour Sunday night? While HBO is being as guarded as ever regarding spoilers, we do have a few base details we can hand down to get you invested in this great show once again. There is also a sneak peek from the season below, but be aware that the events present here are not necessarily all in the first episode. As you likely got from above, the title for this installment is “The Wars to Come.”

1. Change is going to be coming in a big way for so many characters. Tyrion is on the run and heading to a completely new part of the world, while Arya is also traveling somewhere that allows her to have a new and refreshing wardrobe.

2. Be prepared already for a difficult season for Cersei. Suffice it to say, the members of House Lannister face many challenges without Tywin.

3. Jaime will be embarking this season to Dorne, the land of Oberyn Martell. You’ll get to see many members of his family, who may be none too pleased with the fact that the Red Viper is dead.

4. Jon Snow will be in an interesting position, placed right between Stannis Baratheon and Mance Rayder as the battle for Beyond the Wall continues to rage.

5. Finally, anticipate death, despair, and weddings. Would this show have it any other way?
