‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2: More scattered details on spin-off series

While there may not necessarily be a ton of information to report right now in regards to Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” and a potential spin-off show, we can at least tell you a little bit right now about how this one will tie into the already-established universe.

According to a report from Deadline, the new show would feature at least some characters who are currently featured in the regular series, and would air in some ways concurrently with the original show. A script is being worked on (which you can read more about here), with the hope that it will be presented to network executives before the upfronts so that a decision can be made. As for how Marvel is pulling this off, given lower ratings for the flagship series (even if it does perform well internationally and have solid DVR figures), that is anyone’s guess.

So who could be the subject of this spin-off? There is a part of us that thinks that the Inhumans could be a strong possibility, given the strong storyline for Skye (Chloe Bennet) and the introduction recently of Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) into the fold. However, we also do have to consider the idea that Marvel wants to save some of these characters for the movie that they have already announced on these characters; we’re surprised in some ways that they’ve been given so much attention on the show with that in mind.

Another possibility in our head? A show following the adventures of Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki), who is more than capable of being an action hero. It may be hard for her to rejoin the current SHIELD fully given her work for the Real SHIELD, but finding a different venue for her could be fun. Entitle it “Mockingbird” and start the party.
