‘American Idol XIV’ spoilers: Only top 5 going on tour this season

American Idol -There is a big change coming to the way that “American Idol” is doing its tour this season, and yes, we do still assume that there are still some out there interested in attending the tour.

As first reported by Billboard, only the top five contestants this season are going to have a chance to tour the entire country over the summer. This number is half of the ten that usually tour, and we wonder if this is the latest cost-cutting move put in to keep the tour alive. Just take a minute here to remember some of the other concessions that have been made over the years in order to keep this tour strong. First, they canceled many gigs in large venues, and now the contestants tend to perform in smaller venues. Recent years have seen the cancellations of several dates due to poor sales, and last year there was not even a backing band for the artists. Instead, they simply performed to backing tracks. There is only so much fun that you can have with that.

The site reports that it is possible for some singers eliminated before the top five to still get a chance to open their local concert. For example, Daniel Seavey could have a chance potentially to sing at the Portland gig if there is one.

The only real winners here could be the five singers in the top, given that this is going to give all of them more of a chance to shine on the tour. In turn, this could lead to them having some more individual awareness. Granted, we personally feel like the best way to really do that is simply by making good music.
